Jim Patterson, Director

Jim began his role as Training Director of the Indianapolis Electrical Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee in 2004.  He is a graduate of the Inside Wireman program and a 40+ year member of IBEW #481. He also holds a Bachelor's Degree from the George Meany Center for Labor Studies and has numerous industry certifications.  During his tenure as our Director, Jim has served as the Chairman of the National Electrical Training Directors Association and hosted the National Training Director’s Conference in Indianapolis.  He has served as a committee member for the ETA Education Committee, Chair of the Instrumentation Committee and was on the committee charged with developing the new Training Directors manual for incoming Training Directors for the ETA.

Under his leadership, the method in which apprentices report jobsite hours and jobsite evaluations changed from paper copies to a digital portal entry.  Jim has worked with training partners on a national basis to secure educational partnerships and since 2011 Jim and his staff have secured Federal grants in excess of $225,000 for the purchase of equipment to enhance the training of apprentices and journeymen at the Electrical Training Institute.
