Andre Grocox, Training Director
Andre was selected as the Training Director in early December 2021. A member of IBEW Local Union #481 since 2000, he graduated from both the Inside Wireman and Telecommunications apprenticeship programs here at the Electrical Training Institute before serving as an instructor (both part-time and full-time) for more than 14 years. In addition to completing both apprenticeship programs, he holds an Associate of Applied Science degree from Ivy Tech, a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University, and has completed the National Training Institute’s Instructor Training program at the University of Michigan. An August 2023 graduate of the IBEW/NECA/ETA’s VOLT Leadership Academy Cohort 7, Andre currently holds leadership positions on the Indiana Careers in Construction Association (ICCA) Board of Directors, the Top Notch Board of Directors, the Quality Connection Board of Directors and is an active member of both the METDA and NETDA industry associations, in addition to several others.
With his unparalleled experience of completing both apprenticeship programs, 14 years serving as an instructor, and experience as a project manager for more than 5 years with one of our valued NECA partners, Andre has a unique approach to not only understanding how the apprenticeship program must benefit all parties involved but also ensuring our program is best prepared for future success by adapting and changing with technological advances over the coming years, maintaining the level of excellence for which the Electrical Training Institute of Indianapolis has always been known, industry-wide.
Paul Meyers, Assistant Training Director & Instructor
Paul is a graduate of the Inside Wireman program at the Electrical Training Institute (ETI) and holds a bachelor's degree from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. He is currently pursuing his Master of Education degree at Purdue, where he was selected as an IBEW Founder’s Scholar. At the ETI, Paul splits his duties as a classroom instructor and learning management administrator/curriculum manager.
In addition to his technical training and education, Paul has a wealth of experience working with organizations such as the International Code Council, the International Society of Automation, the Electrical Training Alliance, and the Indiana Electrical Code Update Committee. He holds a Master Electrical License and a variety of industry certifications, including those as an International Code Council Certified Electrical Inspector and Code Specialist, EPRI A + B + Test Administrator, ISA CCST Level 3, BICSI Technician, EVITP technician, and HILTI Certified Trainer. Throughout his career, Paul has focused on several areas of concentration, including process instrumentation, electrical theory, national electrical code, and motor controls.
Shanelle Hayes, Instructor
Shanelle is a graduate from the Inside Wireman training program at the ETI. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Indianapolis. Shanelle is a licensed Master Electrician and BICSI Technician. Her areas of concentration include DC Theory, Motor Controls, Blueprints, and Temperature controls.
Sam Kauffman, Instructor
Sam is a graduate of the Inside Wireman Program at the ETI and has been an IBEW 481 member since 2013. He holds an Associate of Applied Science from Ivy Tech and a Bachelor of Science from Ball State University. Before joining IBEW 481, Sam served in the United States Army from 2009 through 2012. He received an Honorable Discharge achieving the rank of Sergeant. Sam’s current focus areas include motors, transformers, and NFPA 70E.
Jeremy Orcutt, Instructor
Jeremy is a graduate from the Inside Wireman program at the ETI. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. Jeremy's industry certifications include a Master Electrical License, NJATC Test Administrator, Rockwell Automation PLC Certified Trainer, OSHA 30 Certified Instructor, EVITP, and OSHA Certified Confined Space Trainer. His areas of concentration include PLC Programming, Conduit Bending, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, and OSHA Safety Training.
Wayne Stevens, Instructor
Wayne is a graduate of the Telecommunication program at the ETI. His industry credentials are BICSI Technician, AVIXA CTS, and CTS-I. In July of 2023, Wayne achieved his long-time goal of earning his Crestron Technician certification after successfully completing a rigorous and challenging training course. His areas of concentration are BICSI, CTS, networking, security, and fire alarm systems.
